Isolated Lazing

A figure chills completely alone, save for their tree, their grass, and their spring. All work that needs to be done is in a small space. In other words... How the pandemic feels for many of us, 2021-2022.

On the literal side: I've always enjoyed the thought of floating islands.  A little space where a tree or some grass grows, while an impossible spring supplies you with water? It sounds like a lovely, little getaway. Perhaps, in larger clusters, it would make for a nice community or village.

On the metaphorical side: Solitary. Content. Accounted for. That's what we all have in these trying times(I refer to the pandemic. The COVID one. Yes, yes. Shudder in its name.) . Perhaps, as the days go on, things lighten up and return to the way they used to be. While we move into normality once again, a feeling akin to hesitation still grips us. We stay isolated because now, it is what we are comfortable with. We know what we can manage at home, the place that we work for, live for, stay in as a way of grounding oneself to what we own, and have earned. We feel closer to what we have, and rightfully so... But in the same instance, are now content with what we have without much motivation to traverse the unknown. After all... What is it worth? What does it mean to you? To us?
